TMCC’s student newspaper, The Echo, has created a new online version of the paper that has been published since 1976. “With the Digital Echo, TMCC now has a platform for students to produce not only stories and pictures in print but also for the World Wide Web. TMCC students and staff also can launch video clips and podcasts from the Digital Echo as well,” says Neil Whitehurst, journalism program adviser.
The Echo covers TMCC news, local and regional stories, as well as reviews of entertainment, restaurants and sports. Content for the online and print editions of The Echo is provided by TMCC journalism students, but any TMCC student may submit content. Student editors decide the inclusion and location of any submission.
“The Echo, which began in the 1970s, has evolved from being an extracurricular activity of a few students to serious multimedia for TMCC journalism students and an outlet for all other students and staff who desire to be contributors,” Whitehurst continued.
The Echo publishes six issues each school semester and serves all five locations of TMCC.
