TMCC welcomes Jane A. Nichols, Ph. D., as interim vice president of academic affairs. Nichols brings with her nearly 30 years of experience in higher education. In her new role, Nichols is responsible for the overall design, organization, delivery, supervision, evaluation and fiscal management of a comprehensive instructional program. She will also serve as a member of the executive management team under TMCC President Maria Sheehan.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jane Nichols and her vast knowledge of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) system to TMCC,” said Dr. Maria Sheehan, president of TMCC. “Her extensive experience with higher education and policy issues will serve us well as we search for the permanent candidate for this position.”
At the NSHE, Nichols served most recently as vice chancellor of academic and student affairs and as chancellor for academic and student affairs prior to that. Preceding her work with the NSHE, Nichols was an associate dean for the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno and associate professor in the department of social work.
Nichols earned a doctorate in higher education from the University of Tennessee, a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwestern at Memphis, now Rhodes College.
