Students and the public are invited to attend the Manufacturing Education EXPO being held at TMCC’s IGT Applied Technology Center on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., as part of the region’s celebration of National Manufacturing Day.
National Manufacturing Day is held annually to address the misperception that manufacturing jobs are dirty, dangerous and offer little growth. Modern manufacturing is technology driven and offers secure good-paying jobs for skilled workers. In addition to TMCC’s event, a number of area manufacturers are offering a tour to the public on Friday, Oct. 4.
Manufacturing Education EXPO visitors will be able to meet instructors, students and employers from manufacturing programs and industries, receive career information and participate in interactive presentations. TMCC technical programs that support manufacturing will be on display including machining, welding, food processing and production technology. Other exhibitors include UNR College of Engineering, the Washoe County School District Signature Academies & CTE. Local manufacturers displaying their products and capabilities at this event include: Nature’s Bakery, Lincoln Electric, Jensen Metal Tech, Urban Outfitters and NOW Foods.
TMCC’s Manufacturing Education EXPO will take place Thursday, Oct. 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the IGT Applied Technology Center located at 475 Edison Way, Reno. Program tours will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information call 775-856-5300 or go to www.mfgday.com/events.
