TMCC is at the forefront of the evolving energy industry and maintains the only energy auditor training program in Nevada. The program is state-certified for the audit-upon-sale law -- a recently approved law which requires energy auditors to obtain a license before conducting energy audits and assessments.
“As a dedicated community partner, TMCC works to create innovative programs that fulfill the needs of businesses throughout Northern Nevada,” said Leon Mills, instructor at TMCC. “This energy auditor program will ultimately strengthen our community by educating students about the importance of energy efficiency and creating much-needed career opportunities.”
During the five-week course, students are required to complete more than 60 hours of classroom interaction and applied field training. By engaging students through hands-on education, TMCC's energy auditor program both familiarizes and educates students about the equipment and technology used to conduct energy assessments including blower doors, which measure the extent of leaks in the building envelope, and infrared cameras, which reveal hard-to-detect areas of air infiltration and missing insulation. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate acknowledging they have satisfied all requirements of the program from TMCC.
