Students Win at SkillsUSA Competition

Truckee Meadows Community College students won top honors at the SkillsUSA state championship held in Las Vegas April 28-30. The state competition includes over 40 separate leadership and skill contests.

The gold medal winners will compete at the national SkillsUSA Championships held in Kansas City, Mo., this month. TMCC medal winners are:

Started in 1967, the SkillsUSA Championships have grown from 54 competitors in three contests to more than 4,700 competitors in 84 hands-on skill and leadership contests. SkillsUSA adds contests to the SkillsUSA Championships to meet the demands of new and expanding occupations. One hundred and thirty different occupational areas are represented by SkillsUSA affiliated instructional programs.

TMCC is a comprehensive community college located in Reno, Nevada. The college serves more than 13,000 students each semester in 50 degree and certificate programs, and an additional 10,000 students annually in non-credit classes.
