The following links have a wealth of biographical information. The site listing starts with directories and non-topical sites then moves into specific areas (art, law, politics, etc.). Occupational categories will be added as they are discovered and as time allows.

Search engines and general biography sites

  This great site features entries written by the author of the site as well as numerous links to outside sources.
• Freeality.com Online Biographies
  This site allows you to search for biographies by category (presidents, fallen martyrs, actors, etc.).

• Artist Index at WebMuseum
  a limited listing of artists. Very cool info if your artist is listed. Short biographies and images of major works are featured.

Business

• Business Biographies
  From InfoPlease. Very short summaries of business leaders' lives. (Note: May not be up-to-date.)

Legal and Judicial

• Current Justices and living retirees
• Past Justices and recent living retirees

Music

• Classical Composers
  • Dr. Estrella's Incredibly Abridged Dictionary of Composers
    The entries are very short, but inventions and major works of the composers are noted, and there are additional biographical links.
  • Naxos.com
    Short to long entries on hundreds of composers, from the famous to the obscure.
• Jazz at PBS
  Short biographies on nearly 100 of the most influential jazz artists. The entries are excerpted from Grove's Dictionary.
• Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
  Learn about the great rock bands, producers, and related people who have been influential in creating the Rock 'n' Roll genre.

Nobel Prize Winners

  Click a category to choose a laureate. Fairly extensive biographical information on all laureates in all fields in which the Nobel Prize is awarded.
