ASSOCIATEOFARTS
TMCC’s associateof arts in criminal justicedegree
is designed for studentswishing to exploreor enter a
highly rewarding career in the criminal justice system. It
is designed as either a stand-alone associatedegree in the
fieldof criminal justiceor as auniversity transfer option
toUNR.The transfer option allows students to earn
their university required lower division courses upon
completionof their associateof arts.
Students are strongly encouraged toobtain academic
advisement atTMCC for courses that are consistentwith
theUNR-TMCC transfer agreement to ensure a smooth
transition in theuniversity transfer process.
DEGREEOUTCOMES
Students completing thedegreewill:
• Describe the rights andprotections grantedunder theUS
Constitution, particularly theBill ofRights, to individuals involved
in the criminal justice system.
• Explain theprocess of conductingaprofessional criminal
investigation, theprocess of anarrest andpretrial detention,
criminal trial procedures, andpossible sanctions after conviction.
• Describe ethics adhered toby individuals involved in thevarious
professions in the criminal justice system.
