ASSOCIATEOFSCIENCE
The associateof science communityhealth science
emphasis affords students abroad, integrated, and
interdisciplinaryperspectiveon a varietyof health
topic and allows for them tobegindeveloping an
understandingof personal, public, and community
health issues.The emphasis provides the lower division
coursework towards potential bachelor degrees in
communityhealth, publichealth, health education and
other related areas, and satisfies the lower divisionmajor
requirements towardsUNR’s bachelor of science in
communityhealth sciences.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Recognizehow the social, cultural, economic, political,
geographical andbiological environments affect personal and
communityhealth.
• Describe andapplybehavioral strategies topromotepersonal
healthandwellness, anddisease and illnessprevention.
• Demonstrate the ability togather and interpret evidence-based
