BusinessEmphasis
ASSOCIATEOFARTS
The associateof arts degreewith an emphasis inbusiness
is designed for studentswho are interested ingraduating
fromTMCC andpursuing abachelor’s degree in
business at a four-year accredited institution.This
degree is the result of a cooperative effortwithNSHE to
allow students to freely transfermorebusiness credits
thanpreviouslyoffered through the associateof applied
sciencedegree. Since this emphasis is part of a2+2
program, students receiving this degreewill be eligible
for transfer toupper division status in UNR’sCollege
of Business. Within theprogram, studentswill explore
awide varietyof opportunities invarious business
fields. The solidbackground in economics, statistics,
and accounting is designed toprovide skills required
topursue advanceddegrees in anybusinessmajor. In
addition to the completionof theAAbusiness emphasis,
students must also have aminimumoverall grade
point averageof 2.0 tobe admitteddirectly into amajor
inUNR’sCollegeof Business.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Obtain the requiredknowledge and familiaritywith the rangeof
businessdisciplines includingaccounting, economics, statistics,
andmarketing.
• Demonstrateunderstandingof and competency inapplied skills,
analytical skills, and interpersonal/group relation skills as they
contribute tobusinessprofessional skills.
