associateof sciencewith an emphasis inbiology. The
curriculum includes a coreof courses in thebiological
andphysical sciences andmathematics.All courses
recommendedwill partially satisfy thebachelor of
science inbiology at theUniversityofNevada, Reno.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Applyprinciplesofmathematics andphysical sciences to laboratory
practices andbiological processes.
• Explain concepts and theories inmolecular structure and function,
cellularprocesses, andgenetics.
• Demonstrateknowledgeof the structural andphysiological
functions of organisms, their ecological context, and the
evolutionary relationships andhierarchical organizationof
biological diversity.
• Demonstrateproficient useof standard laboratory equipment and
follow safe laboratorypractices; apply themethodof scientific
inquirybydesigninga controlled experiment, and collecting,
