SKILLSCERTIFICATE
TheASEgeneral service skills certificatewill introduce
students to the theory and fundamental principles of
automotive and light truck maintenance and repair
procedures. Studentswill diagnose and repair various
engine, steering, suspension, andbrake systems. This
general service skills certificatewill helpprepare
students to take theAutomotive ServiceExcellence
(ASE)EngineRepair (A1), Steering andSuspension (A4),
andAutomotiveBrakes (A5) exams. Studentsmust pass
all courseworkwith a scoreof 70%or higher.
These coursesmaynot transfer to abaccalaureatedegree
of art or sciencewithin theuniversities in theNevada
SystemofHigherEducation (NSHE).
CERTIFICATEOUTCOMES
Students completing the certificatewill:
• Identify, test, and interpret failed engine systems andapply
appropriate repair strategies.
• Identify, test, and interpret failed steering, suspension, andbrake
systems, andapplyappropriate repair strategies.
• Demonstrateknowledgeof the appropriateworkplace skills and
tools, including the applicationof personal andmechanical safety
measuresused ingeneral automotive systemsdiagnoses and
repair.
