ASSOCIATEOFARTS
The associateof arts degree in anthropology is
designed for students seeking careers in anthropology
or relatedfields.Thedegree requirements include
general education requirements togain abreadthof
knowledge in awide arrayof disciplines. Students
will also specialize in the theoretical,methodological,
and topical concerns of anthropology.This courseof
study is designed as auniversity transfer degreeor can
be tailored for thosewishing an emphasis in applied
anthropology togain thepractical knowledge to enter
theworkforce in entry level positions.The associateof
arts degree is fully accepted at any four-year institution
in theNSHE system and is fully transferable tomost
four-year schools in thenation.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Understand the theoryandmethodsusedbyanthropologists.
• Discuss core concepts of thediscipline including stewardship
of cultural heritage, thedifferencesbetween ethnocentrismand
cultural relativism, andwhyanthropologists assert race as a social
construct.
• Conduct research, dataanalysis, and reportwritingon specific
topicswithinanthropology.
