TheAssociateofGeneral Studies degree atTMCC
is designed as anon-transfer degree/certificate for
studentswhodesire awell-rounded education for
personal interest or further academic and/or career
goals.
DevelopmentalPrograms
Developmental academic skills programs provide
students theopportunity toupgrade their basic
skills inEnglishgrammar, composition, reading,
mathematics, algebra, study skills and test taking.
Startingwith the freshman class of 2007, students
who score indevelopmental educationmust
complete the requirements prior to attempting their
thirtieth credit.
COURSENUMBERINGSYSTEM
To assist students in identifying the types of courses
available and their applicability towarddegrees, the
collegemaintains the following coursenumbering
system that identifies a specific courseby level of
proficiency.
• Freshman—100-199
• Sophomore—200-299
• WorkforceDevelopment andContinuing
Education—100C-299C
• Developmental Courses—001-099

to abaccalaureatedegree within theuniversities in
theNevadaSystemofHigherEducation (NSHE).
Courseswith three-digit numbers andno letter
following thenumber (with the exceptionof an “R”),
such asEnglish101,may transfer toUNR,Nevada
StateCollege (NSC) and/orUNLV as oneof the
following.
1. An equivalent course
TheTMCC course is transferableand considered to
be equivalent toa comparable courseatUNR,NSC
orUNLV, even though the coursenumbersmaynot
be the same.
2. An elective
TheTMCC course is transferableandmay fulfill
specificdegree, emphasis, or certificate credit
requirements ormayapply toward total credits
needed for graduation.
CLetterDesignation
Courseswith a “C” after the coursenumber, such as
MASG205C, indicate that the course is under the
workforcedevelopment and continuing education
department.The coursewill not transfer to a
Nevadauniversity.
