Veterans’EducationBenefits
Theveterans certifyingofficial is available toassist
veterans andactivedutypersonnelwhoareeligible
forVAEducationBenefits. Eligibility isdetermined
by theVeteransAdministration, by submittingan
onlineapplication, and isbasedon thenumberof
months servedonactivedutyand thedischarge
disposition. StateofNevadaNationalGuard
members and surviving spouses andchildrenof
deceasedveteransor spouses andchildrenof 100
percentdisabledveteransmayalsoapply forVA
EducationBenefits. TheVeteransEducationBenefits
Office is located inFinancialAid,RDMT315-C.
All prior credit, bothmilitaryandother education
institutions,must beevaluatedbyTMCC’s
admissionsofficeviaa request forofficial transcripts.
Military transcript requests areavailableonline for
eachmilitarybranchof service.
PerExecutiveOrder13607, all studentsusingVA
educationbenefitsmust attenda “veterannew
student”workshop. Call 775-673-7045 to schedule
theworkshop. After thecompletionof 6credits,
all studentsusingVAeducationbenefitsmust also
attenda “veteranon-track”workshop.Call 775-673-

VeteransUpwardBoundProgram
TheVeteransUpwardBoundProgram isaneducational
program fundedby theU.S.DepartmentofEducation.
It isdesigned toassistveterans inpreparing forsuccess
incollegeandotherpost-secondary training.
VeteransUpwardBoundprovidesacomprehensive
programof supportservices to improvebothacademic
andmotivational skills.Servicesareavailable forcollege
preparationandHSEcompletion.Specificservices
includedevelopmentalcourses to improvebasicskills,
tutoring, careercounselingandadvisement, college
orientation, assistancewithadmissions,financialaid
andreferrals tootheragencies.Veteransmustmeet
programeligibilityrequirements.

Fees and tuitionare set by theNevadaSystemof
HigherEducationBoardofRegents andare subject to
change.

Notwithstandingcurrentlyposted tuitionand fees,
all fees, tuitionorother chargeswhich students are
required topayeach semester are subject to increase
byactionof theBoardofRegents at any timebefore
thecommencement of classes (primarilydue to
budgetary shortfalls).Theamount youarechargedat
the timeof registration isnot afinal bill andmaybe
increased.Youwill receivea supplemental invoice for
anyadditional amountswhich theBoardofRegents
may impose. Feechangesput inplace less than30
daysbeforecommencement of classeswill not be
subject to late feepenalties.

ExcessCreditFee (EffectiveFall 2014)
A50percent excess credit feeon theper-credit
registration fee shall becharged toa studentwho
has accruedattemptedcredits equal to150percent
of thecredits required for the student’sprogram
of study. Theexcess credit fee shall be imposedon
registration fees charged in thecurrent semester
and in subsequent semesters, including summer
terms,wherea student’s cumulativecredithour total
exceeds150percent of thecredits required for the
student’sprogramof study.
