This coursewill survey theLeadership inEnergy andEnvironmentalDesign (LEED) constructionmethods, techniques,materials and
associated points system. Discussionswill includeGreen building and how they increase productivity, improve health, conserve theEarth's
resources, and cost less to operate andmaintain than standard construction types. Other areas to be discussedwill includeSustainable
Sites;Water Efficiency; Energy andAtmosphere;Materials andResources; Indoor EnvironmentalQuality; and Innovation andDesign
Process. Case studieswill be examined and used to identify the specific constructionmethods, point accumulation and how it assists in
conservation. This course is used as an introductory course in an interdisciplinary degree atUNRwithinPolitical Science andEngineering.
LandscapeManagement I

LandscapeManagement I is the first of two courses designed for the nurseryman's certification.Material coveredwill be valuable to the
homeowner aswell as the professional. The on campus field trip gives hands-on demonstrations of how irrigation components are installed

This course covers the basics of tree care as it applies to trees in the urban environment. The semesterwill beginwith biology of trees in
order to help the student to understandwhy it is necessary to follow the practices thatwill be described throughout the class. Also, the
biological portion of the classwill increase the appreciation for trees, an understanding of the complex physiological processes that take
placewithin treeswill raise them from inanimate objects to fellow inhabitant and contributors to the environment in the urban setting.
