ASSOCIATEOFSCIENCE
This is a two-year transferableprogram leading to an
associateof sciencewith an emphasis inphysics. Physics
is the scienceofmatter, energy, space and time, and
physicists are generally at the forefront indeveloping
important new technologies. Physicists are expert
problem solvers and adegree inphysics provides a good
route into careers as diverse as industrial research,
engineering and evenbanking andfinance.All courses
recommended in this emphasiswill partially satisfy
thebachelor of science inphysics at theUniversityof
Nevada, Reno.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Demonstrate abasicknowledgeof foundational theories and
principles central tophysics.
• Solve archetypal introductoryphysics problems through the
applicationof relevant physical principles andappropriate level
mathematics.
• Demonstrate abeginningunderstandingof experimental design
andanalysis.
