CRIMINAL JUSTICEDEGREE–ASSOCIATEOFAPPLIEDSCIENCE
TMCC’s associateof applied science in law enforcement
degree is designed for studentswishing to exploreor
enter ahighly rewarding career in the criminal justice
system.TheAAS in law enforcement provides students
with a strong foundation for careers in law enforcement,
probation, investigations, corrections, and corporate
security.
The associateof applied science in law enforcement is
designed as apractitioner oriented andpossibly terminal
degree.This degree isnot intended as auniversity
transfer degree for those studentswhowish to continue
on to complete their bachelor degree. Students interested
inuniversity transfer should insteadmajor in the
associateof arts in criminal justicedegree.
TheAAS in law enforcement allows students a greater
opportunity to select and customize their educational
experience around their specific interests in criminal
justice.

• Demonstrate competency in their specified emphasis.

• Describe the rights andprotections grantedunder theUS
Constitution, particularly theBill ofRights, to individuals involved
in the criminal justice system.
• Explain theprocess of conductingaprofessional criminal
investigation, theprocess of anarrest andpretrial detention,
criminal trial procedures, andpossible sanctions after conviction.
• Describe ethics adhered toby individuals involved in thevarious
professions in the criminal justice system.
