ENERGYTECHNOLOGIES -CERTIFICATEOFACHIEVEMENT
Geothermal plant operators control andmonitor
geothermal production, injectionwells, pumps,
vaporizers, condensers, turbines, generators, and
auxiliary equipment used inpower plants.They
distributepower amonggenerators, regulate theoutput
from several generators, andmonitor instruments to
maintainvoltage and regulate electricityflow from
theplant. Computers areused togenerate reports,
maintain records, and trackmaintenance.Geothermal
plant operators generallyneed a combinationof
higher education, on-the-job training, and experience.
Geothermal plant operators alsoneed strong
mechanical, electrical, technical, and computer skills.
CERTIFICATEOUTCOMES
Students completing the certificatewill:
• Demonstrate the ability toapply current knowledge and skills to
theoperationof ageothermal powerplant.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, and solve typical
technical problems associatedwith theoperationof ageothermal
powerplant.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicatewithand function
effectivelyona team.
• Demonstrate the ability toapplyknowledgeof environmental
regulations for geothermal powerplants.
