ASSOCIATEOFARTS
This degree emphasizes a critical understanding and
appreciationof literature through an introduction to,
and investigationof, its foundations and expressions.
TheEnglish emphasiswithin theAssociateofArts

to serve those students seeking a terminal degreeor
transfer into abaccalaureateprogram.
EMPHASISOUTCOMES
Students completing the emphasiswill:
• Identifyand explain themethods andmaterials of literary research
andgain the ability to conduct basic literary research.
• Evaluate/analyze/synthesizehistorical and cultural attitudes and
ideas, including the ability to identify commonanddissimilar
traits, that emerge from literarymasterpieces.

ideas of the time.
