Can I get in the FastTrack program if I am a current student?
FastTrack programs are designed for working adults who have had some college and wish to complete their degree online. Current TMCC students who meet the admissions requirements may apply to the program. Contact us for further information.
Can I take a FastTrack class without being accepted into the program?
No, you must be accepted into the program to be able to enroll in a FastTrack class. Please apply to the program to get started on the admission steps.
Do I have to already be a student at TMCC in order to enroll in the FastTrack program?
No, the program is designed for working adults who want to earn their degree. You will need to complete the admissions requirements as listed on the WebCollege FastTrack Online Degree Program website.
Do my credits and hours from other colleges apply to the FastTrack program?
There is a two-part answer to your question. Yes, TMCC accepts credits from other regionally accredited colleges and universities. Some credits may be transferable and count towards your degree based on a free transcript evaluation that will be conducted. The acceptance of credit is made on a course by course and department by department basis.
How do I enroll in TMCC's FastTrack Online Degree Program if I know this program is right for me?
Great! We are excited about helping you attain your degree. The first step is to complete and submit an application. We will make admissions decisions as soon as all your application materials are received and your file is marked complete.
How do I know if online learning is for me?
All FastTrack courses are online, so you have to be comfortable learning on your own, at a fast pace. You also have to be comfortable sitting at your computer! For help deciding whether online learning is for you, take TMCC's WebCollege online learning self-assessment.
How do I pay for a degree?
We understand that figuring out how to pay for your degree is often the most challenging aspect of the application process. Financial aid comes in the form of grants or loans. Many businesses and industries provide tuition reimbursement programs. Check with your human resources department about these opportunities.
How do I qualify for financial aid?
The first step in applying for financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The key to the financial aid process is to apply early! Learn more by contacting TMCC's Financial Aid Office. The FAFSA and all other TMCC application documents must be completed to determine eligibility. Students applying for financial aid should have their FAFSA applications submitted as soon as possible. See the Financial Aid Deadlines for more information.
How much does the FastTrack program cost?
Is a FastTrack Online Degree Program for me?
That depends. The WebCollege FastTrack Online Degree Program is designed for working adults who previously attended, but did not finish, college. These courses are taught online at an accelerated pace and cover the same amount of material in five weeks that is taught in a regular semester. You must qualify to meet the degree requirements, and also have the desire and interest to participate in online learning.
Is there a way to receive credit for my educational and professional experiences?
You may choose to test out of a particular course by taking a nationally standardized exam at TMCC's recognized testing center. Many TMCC-specific courses also offer challenge exams as an option to taking the course. Ask your FastTrack representative about how to set up one of these exams.
What degree programs are offered in the FastTrack Online Degree Program?
Currently, TMCC offers the following degree programs in a 100% online format: Associate of Applied Science in Business, and Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Emphasis.
Students wishing to complete their Bachelor of Applied Science Management may seamlessly transfer to our four-year partner in the FastTrack Degree Program, Nevada State College. All classes are online.
What do I do next if I completed all of the steps for FastTrack admission?
Once all of your information has been submitted, contact us to schedule a pre-advising phone appointment. During the pre-advising session, an individual academic plan will be created by you and a qualified advisor.
What is the process to get my transcripts evaluated to determine what credits will transfer?
You must submit requests to all of the previous institutions you attended for your transcripts to be mailed directly to TMCC. Transcripts must be mailed directly to the TMCC Admissions and Records Office from the school in a sealed envelope, as TMCC cannot accept student copies. The mailing address is: Admissions and Records, Truckee Meadows Community College, 7000 Dandini Blvd. RDMT 319, Reno, Nevada 89512-3999.
Why is a resume part of the FastTrack admission process?
Your resume provides us with a quick look at your experiences through your career and everyday life. The purpose behind collecting this admission information is to ensure your success in the FastTrack program.
Will I be required to take any kind of placement test for the FastTrack program?
Yes, you will be required to take the ACCUPLACER tests for English, math and reading to determine which courses are right for you. Please contact the testing center office to set up an ACCUPLACER test after sending in your application.
Will other programs be offered through the FastTrack program?
