Can TMCC help me with child care?

Do I have to pay for parking at TMCC?
No. Parking is free at all TMCC campuses and educational centers. No stickers are required.
Do I need a high school diploma or GED to attend TMCC?
No, unless you are applying for special admission to TMCC.
Do you have on-campus housing at TMCC?
No, TMCC does not offer housing on its sites.
Do you offer campus tours?
TMCC has an ambassador program that helps students become familiarized with the college. Our ambassadors are TMCC students, so they can give you helpful hints and advice to first-time students. Request a free campus tour with an ambassador.
Does TMCC offer tutoring services?
Yes, tutoring is offered at the Tutoring and Learning Center.
How can I contact my professor or part-time instructor?
Try the online faculty and staff directory first or call TMCC's main information number at 775-673-7000.
Part-time instructors do not have assigned offices, although messages can be dropped off in the Red Mountain Building, room 315, or left at the main information phone number at 775-673-7000.
How can I obtain a TMCC transcript?
Complete the transcript request form. You can view and print unofficial transcripts in your online registration account, if you have attended TMCC within the last year.
How do I apply for admission at TMCC?

How do I contact the police?
For emergencies, dial 911. For other information, contact TMCC's police department.
How do I find out about scholarships?
How do I find out my grades when I finish my class?
Grades are available approximately one week after the end of the semester. You can access your grades through MyTMCC. If you need a printed copy of the grades, you can also request a grade mailer of your term grades be sent to you using MyTMCC. You can also print an unofficial copy of your transcript that will show all your classes and grades including previous terms. If you have your grades mailed to you, make sure that your correct address in MyTMCC.
How do I formally declare a major?
Please fill out the Major Declaration form.
How do I get a job as a student worker on campus?
Contact the financial aid, scholarships and employment office. Visit them on the Dandini Campus in the Red Mountain Building, room 315.
How do I get a student locker?
Place a $10 deposit at the controller's office at the Dandini Campus in the Red Mountain Building. Then present your receipt at the information center in room RDMT 315 A.
How do I join the TMCC fitness center?
Visit the Fitness Center Web site.
How do I know which classes are honors classes?
It is up to you and your professors to determine whether you have accomplished the additional work required to turn any class into an honors class. Be sure to talk to your instructor early in the semester.
How do I pay for my classes?
Use the payment options on MyTMCC, or pay in person at the controller's office on the Dandini Campus, Red Mountain Building, room 318.
I put classes in MyTMCC's shopping cart. How do I complete the registration process?
You must complete the registration process to ensure your place in classes.
To complete your registration:
1) Log in to my.tmcc.edu
2) Select the 'Student Center' link
3) Select your shopping cart
4) Select the classes you wish to enroll in by checking the box next to the class
5) Click the 'Enroll' button
6) Click the 'Finish Enrolling' button to complete the process
7) Remove classes that you are not planning to enroll in using the delete button

What books do I need for my classes?
The TMCC Bookstore in the Red Mountain building has all the textbooks sorted by class. Refer to the class schedule for the bookstore's hours of operation or call 775-673-7172.
What degrees are offered at TMCC?
TMCC's course catalog has the answers and outlines the degrees we offer.
What does it mean to audit a class?
A student who wishes to enroll for no credit may register as an auditor. An auditor pays regular fees and, at the discretion of the instructor, must meet all regular class requirements. A student who audits a course will not receive a grade or credit for that course. Changing from audit to credit or from credit to audit must be done by filing the necessary forms before the filing deadline printed in the current class schedule. Forms for changing to or from audit status require the student's signature and must be processed at the Admissions and Records office.
What is a DARS report and where can I get one?
A DARS report is a Degree Audit Reporting System report. This report lists the classes you must take for your degree program. Courses already taken are considered in the report, and the classes you still need to complete the degree are listed. These reports are available from admissions and records or through a TMCC counselor. You may print the request for a DARS. Unofficial DARS reports are also available on MyTMCC. What is the tuition at TMCC?
Read the most current fee schedule. A three-credit class costs a fraction of university tuition. Nevada's senior citizens-62 years or older-attend most classes tuition free.
What types of tests do I need to take to be admitted?
We highly recommend that all new students take the free ACCUPLACER test prior to enrolling. ACCUPLACER is required for placement into English and math classes, which you will want to take during the first semester. Math and English build the basic foundation for all other college classes. If you have recent ACT or SAT scores, or grades from prerequisite classes, those can be used instead.
When and how can I register at TMCC?
Once you are admitted to TMCC, please see the class schedule for your registration times and dates and then register for classes online with MyTMCC.
When can I use the computer labs?

When should I speak with an advisor?
New students - all new degree-seeking students are required to meet with an advisor through a New Student Advisement Workshop in order to be able to register for your first semester of classes. Once you have registered for classes, you are considered to be a continuing student.
Continuing students – Advisors are available to you year-round for all of your academic planning questions. If you have questions about which classes you should register for in the upcoming semester, plan to meet with an advisor prior to the start of registration or as early into the registration period as possible. Summer and fall registration begin every April, and Spring registration begins in November. Remember, advisement is by appointment only and during registration periods advisors may be booked out at least three weeks.

Who needs to complete the TMCC Required Enrollment Steps?
All new, degree-seeking students must complete the Required Enrollment Steps: take the ACCUPLACER Placement Test, attend an orientation and attend an advisement workshop.
Why do I have to complete the required enrollment steps?
TMCC requires all new degree-seeking students to complete three free Required Enrollment Steps to help ensure your success as a new college student: placement testing, orientation, and academic advisement. Finishing each required enrollment step at improves your ability to continue on your degree path, complete your classes and graduate on time.
