Facilities Services
Facilities Projects
TMCC will undertake a variety of campus improvement and maintenance projects during the summer 2012 terms at the Dandini Campus.
RDMT HVAC System Upgrade
Beginning Monday, May 21, the heating, ventilation, air and cooling (HVAC) system in phase 2 and 3 of the Red Mountain Building will be replaced, including both heating and cooling components. Because most of us don't know where phase 2 and 3 are (and would get lost in RDMT looking), a map is available
. The HVAC system has been in place since the building was constructed in 1976 (and we're pretty sure the warranty has expired!).
The good news is that the system will be updated with a more modern and efficient system before it puffs its last breath. The bad news is that there may be some times during this project where air conditioning and heating is not available. Steps have been taken to minimize disruptions: no classes have been scheduled in the affected areas, and office staff have been notified. Facilities will provide cooling devices if needed. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. This project will run through August 15, and updates will be provided as available.

Dry Fire Suppression Replacement
Components of the dry fire suppression piping system in the Red Mountain Building will be replaced beginning Tuesday, May 22. This system, located outside the building, suppresses fires that may occur in offices where there is no ground or building under its floors (like my office!). The impact to this project is noise due to drilling and pipe removal. The project will continue through July 15.
Flooring Replacement Project
Flooring will be replaced in the Red Mountain Building, phase 4, on the second floor, labs in RDMT 301, 302, 410 and 415 and will run through June 30. Departments are aware of this project and no classes are scheduled. This project includes abatement for asbestos as this material is found in the floor due to its age.
Electrical Improvements
The electrical system in the Red Mountain Building that services lab areas in phase 2 will be upgraded to better serve the labs. This project includes new electrical panels for lab areas. There will be some power shutdowns with advanced notice. Start time to be announced.
As other projects are initiated at other college sites, information will be distributed. Thanks for your understanding as a little noise and dust show up this summer.
