Health Care Provider CPR

Workshop Registration Notice: To be officially registered in this workshop, you must come to the Dandini Campus to complete an application and pay the fee at the Controller's office. Books may be purchased at the TMCC Bookstore.

The BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR course teaches CPR skills to be used on victims of all ages, the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and the relief of a foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This course also includes instruction on ventilation with a barrier device, and a bag-valve-mask device.

Health Care Provider is designed for those who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in and out of hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, residents or fellows, medical or nursing assistants or students in training, aides, and other allied health personnel.

The course is a prerequisite for American Heart Association courses such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and BLS instructor courses. It is also a prerequisite for entrance into the health sciences programs at TMCC, as well as entrance into any clinical setting.

Course time: This is a four to five hours course; all participants who complete the course and pass the written exam will receive a BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion card (credential), which is good for a two year period.

Course Cost: $50 plus textbook; textbooks can be purchased in the TMCC bookstore. Students must have textbook prior to attending class.
