Selection Process

The program will establish an interest list and will notify applicants of the testing date. We highly recommend that anyone desiring entrance into the paramedic program have previous EMS field experience and completed a college-level anatomy and physiology course. All candidates must pass a back ground check through Pre-Check prior to enrollment in classes.

TMCC will conduct testing from the interest list to fill vacancies within the program. The testing process will consist of:

  1. A Written examination covering EMT-Basic.
  2. An online HESI Test.
  3. A BLS Skills Evaluation.
  4. A Competitive communications assessment (oral interview)

A list will be generated from these tests. Admission into the program will be based upon test score ranking. Class size is limited to 24 students a year.

Post Acceptance

Once accepted into the program, you must provide proof of the following:

  1. Satisfy all general college admission requirements
  2. Pass a physical DOT examination
  3. Current MMR immunization or appropriate titer levels
  4. Diphtheria-tetanus immunizations within last five years
  5. Hepatitis-B immunization within the last five years or appropriate titer levels
  6. Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray within the last six months
  7. Major medical insurance, which has to be maintained throughout the program
  8. Be at least 18 years of age or older upon program beginning date.

Failure to provide proof of these items by the first day of class will result in the student's dismissal from the Paramedic Program.
