EMS-Instructor Course (110B)

This course is designed for those who wish to be eligible to teach others in the EMS field. After completing this course, instructors will be able to teach to the level of their training. However, this class does not meet the requirements for those who want to teach in the firefighting setting.

This class teaches future instructors the components of the learning process, methods of teaching (teaching theory and teaching skills), preparation and use of a variety of media and materials, and purpose and methods of evaluation.

Upon successful completion of class, the student will be required to instruct a minimum of 10 hours under the supervision of a current EMS Instructor in order to apply for State of Nevada certification.

Successful students will be eligible to apply for EMS instructor positions. Possible employers include: colleges, universities, EMS agencies, fire departments, and mines.

Attendance Policy: We have a strict attendance policy that is given to us by the State of Nevada.

Students are not allowed to miss more than 6 hours of class. Any students missing more than the allowed time will be not allowed to continue and will be withdrawn from the class.

Grading Policy: A=100% - 93% B= 92% – 84% C= 83% - 75% D=74% - 70% F=69% and Below. Students MUST have a 75% cumulative average to be able to complete the course.

Pre-requisites: A State of Nevada EMT-B, EMT-I, or Paramedic certification and one letter of recommendation from someone of EMS experience in either the field or in education.
