DRC Accommodation Appeals
A student registered with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) who disagrees with approved accommodations may appeal the decision. The student should begin the appeals process with the DRC. The student needs to fill out an appeal form and provide evidence to support his or her appeal. The student will be asked to meet with a DRC staff member within 14 working days of the receipt of the appeal form.
If the student is not satisfied with the services to be provided or resolution of the grievance with the DRC, the student may take the written appeal and supporting documentation to a DRC Appeals Committee. The DRC Appeals Committee will render a written resolution within 21 working days of the filing of the DRC appeal.
DRC Appeals Committee membership includes:
- 1 – DRC Professional staff member
- 1 – Administrative faculty member
- 1 – Academic Faculty member
- 1 – Additional member
- 1 – TMCC student
If the student is still not in agreement with the approved accommodations, the student may appeal the decision to the Equity and Inclusion Office by following the grievance procedure.
A student may file a formal grievance with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) if the student believes his or her complaint is in violation of the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, The Americans with Disabilities Act As Amended of 2008, or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. That office will determine whether a further investigation is warranted based on a lack of equal access incurred by a disability.
