Diversity Language Certification
Note: This program has been transferred to Workforce Development and Continuing Education. Please contact Anastasia Sefchick for more information.
TMCC language certification is the result of inquiries and requests to establish norm and levels of language proficiency for interpreters and translators by local area employers. The initial focus of the program will be on the Spanish language due to the dramatic increase of the Spanish-speaking population in the Washoe County area. Other languages will be addressed as the program develops.
Who will benefit:
- Agencies and businesses can benefit from having a certified translator to improve and validate quality customer service. TMCC language certificate will enhance employment possibilities with the educational system, social service agencies, hospitals, private attorneys for depositions and client interviews, and business firms with international clientele.
- Translators will benefit by receiving a certificate showing a recognized standard of language proficiency. Many states require certification to translate or to interpret. The language certification will give you the edge to be competitive in the field of translation and may qualify you for extra compensation at your current place of employment.
