Counseling Resources and Referrals

Counselors make appropriate referrals for those students who will be better helped by the other practitioners, specialists, departments and facilities, to solve their problems. Counselors can assist in connecting students to other professionals and resources both on and off campus.

TMCC Campus

• R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Training
  A free program of realities, self-defense tactics and techniques offered by the TMCC Police Department. For women over age 13; the classes are 12 hours long, limited to 15 and on a first-come, first serve basis.

• Community Resource Databas
  Alphabetical with filtering on 13 categories.
• 2-1-1
  Community Resource Line which helps people find and give help (7-1-1 for hearing/speech impairments). Callers get information on basic human services, physical/mental health resources, financial stability, support for seniors and persons with disabilities, programs for families and more.
• United Way of No. NV. and the Sierra
  Focus on education (early child care and youth), income (financial stability), and health (access, substance abuse, education and discount prescription cards).
• Reno Vet Center
  To promote quality, clinically-sound services to Vets and their families.
• Local Veteran Services
• eWomenNetwork Reno/Tahoe/Carson City Chapter
