Mission
Acts as a recommending body for the strategic direction and implementation of information technology within Truckee Meadows Community College.
About the Committee
History
Since September 2002, the TMCC Technology Committee has existed to help the college meet its mission through the strategic deployment of technology. The committee has been comprised of a cross section of TMCC faculty and staff.
Current
The purpose of the TMCC Technology committee is to identify, prioritize, and advocate for information technology needs and services. The Committee considers and recommends information technology-related policies and procedures for final approval by the President's Cabinet. In addition, it takes a proactive role in promoting the integration of information technology into the academic and administrative life of the college. The committee's efforts will also ensure that the college's mission and goals are served in short- and long-term information technology planning.
Primary Objectives
- Review and make recommendations to ensure technology initiatives fit the college's information technology and strategic goals.
- Oversight of college technology issues
- Periodic review/update of college technology plans
- Coordination of subcommittee activities
- Review/recommendations regarding subcommittee recommendations. Sub-committees are:
- Academic Technology Committee
- Administrative Computing Committee
- Web Advisory Committee
- Review/recommendations regarding annual technology fee allocations
- Tasks as assigned by the campus president and administration
- Act as an authoritative body for information technology policy compliance
- Identify, review and draft recommended policy areas related to information technology TMCC
- Promote the integration of the information technology into the college's normal business practices and operating procedures
- Recommend new projects to improve the use of information technology within TMCC
Reporting Structure
The Technology Committee operates under the authority of the President of the college and the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services (VPFA). The co-chairs of the Technology Committee are appointed by the VPFA and serve at his/her discretion. The committee makes recommendations to the VPFA, and through him/her, to the president of the college.

Cross section of college faculty and staff
Attendance
Active committee participation is important to ensure continuity and inclusion. Members should plan to attend at least 75% of the annual meetings (9 out of 12) to maintain voting privileges. If you are unable to attend, please plan to send a colleague to the meeting in your place.
When Members Are Selected
Faculty representatives are appointed by Faculty Senate every three years; other members as needed.
Length of Membership
Faculty representatives are appointed by Faculty Senate every three years; Classified Council and SGA representatives normally serve for one year terms. Other members terms of service are ongoing.

Meeting Times/Length of Meetings
The committee meets on the third Friday of every month (except December) from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Location TBA.
