History of TMCC's Website

TMCC's Web presence was established in 1998. Since its inception, there have been six major redesigns and/or re-alignment periods. Collaboration partners include the Public Information office (PIO), the Web Advisory Committee, Information Technology, college Web Content Contributors and you—the site visitors. The Web Services team, in conjunction with the aforementioned contributors, continues to refine the TMCC website, expanding content and making revisions based on visitor feedback, research, analysis and best practices in the ever-evolving area of Web development.  Read about our most recent changes.

Standards, Guidelines and Accessibility

TMCC's website has been designed to adhere to standards and guidelines provided by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). Truckee Meadows Community College is also committed to providing an accessible Web presence. All pages should validate as either HTML 5 or XHTML 1.0 Transitional or Strict.  Efforts are made so that all pages meet the guidelines of the Web Accessibility Initiative's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Web Style Guide

TMCC uses a modified version of the Associated Press Stylebook as the style guide and standard for writing online content. For more information about TMCC's style guide, see Writing for the Web.

All TMCC administrative pages are integrated within an enterprise Web Content Management System (CMS) and utilize a standard header, footer, navigation and page template to maintain a consistent look and feel throughout its thousands of pages. The website template, in its simplest form, provides a standard framework for the development of all college pages, and lends to the site's ease of use with consistent navigation, structure, design and content formatting.

Honors/Distinctions

TMCC's website has been notably recognized by the Web Standards Project (WaSP)National Association of Government Webmasters (NAGW)National Council for Marketing and Public Relations and twice by the Center for Digital Education for achieving excellence in Web page design/development, usability and accessibility.
