Associated Students of Truckee Meadows (ASTM) Student Government

The Associated Students of Truckee Meadows (ASTM) is the name of the student government body at TMCC. The ASTM encompasses all students currently enrolled at Truckee Meadows Community College. Anyone taking at least one class at TMCC is an ASTM member. The ASTM provides a variety of programs and activities for students. In addition, the ASTM makes recommendations and contributes opinions and information to the college, the system, and Board of Regents regarding student concerns. The ASTM provides support to the student clubs and organizations on campus. The ASTM officers are elected every spring semester or appointed by the current ASTM student government to fill vacancies.

The officer positions are:

  • Board Chairperson
  • Communications Director
  • Finance Director
  • Public Relations and Recruitment Director
  • Seven elected Senators

The purpose of the student government is to:

  • make recommendations concerning student welfare
  • recommend policies concerning campus student activities
  • assist the college in planning and sponsoring student activities
  • coordinate the activities of approved student organizations

Students are encouraged to participate in student government and its various activities and projects. Interested persons should contact the Student Activities and Leadership office.
