As our society faces paradigm shifts in building and design to respect natural systems and use resources efficiently, landscape architects and landscape design professionals will be poised to take the role as leaders in sustainable design strategies for the arid landscapes of Northern Nevada.

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) foresees a shortfall in qualified landscape professionals in the coming years. Community Colleges nationwide are fast becoming leaders in green and sustainable college campus design. Community college programs in landscape architecture are in a prime position to collaborate with their college's Facilities Planning and Master Planning efforts. In addition, ASLA is exploring the possibility of accrediting qualified 2 year schools to meet the coming demand!
