Creativity Show will celebrate the work of Washoe Community Education student artists
Artistic students from Community Education will showcase their works in 12 different mediums at the first Creativity Show on Sat., May 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the TMCC Meadowood Center. The event is free to the public.
Twenty-one students and 12 instructors will display—and many will demonstrate—their art or craft during the 3-hour celebration. Mediums represented at the event will include blacksmithing, calligraphy, pastel painting, handmade cards and gift boxes, drawing, glass fusion, oil painting, photography, sewing, colored pencils, stained glass and watercolor painting.
Instructors and students will be available to describe their finished work and mediums, individual techniques and courses. Art will be for sale by some of the artists.
Visit www.facebook.com/washoecommunityed from April 22 to May 1 to view a display of student art and vote for your favorite piece. The student with the most votes will receive a certificate and a discount on a Community Ed course.
"Our students and instructors bring such a wealth of talent and dedication to these courses," said Debbie Melahn, program coordinator for WCSD Community Education. "They are exceptional artists and craftspeople, and we want to share their work with the wider audience it deserves."
Paintings, drawings and photography from the show will be displayed in the hallways of the Meadowood Center through June 22. The TMCC Meadowood Center is at 5270 Neil Road, across from the Sears Auto Center. Community Education, a program of the Washoe County School District, offers hundreds of personal enrichment classes to both adults and children. For details, visit www.washoecommunityed.org.
