Success First Grant Initiative and Summer Bridge Program

About the Program
- The Success First Grant Initiative and Summer Bridge program assists first time, first generation college students by increasing their college readiness skills, so they may pursue higher education and achieve their goals.
- Students selected will receive information regarding important support services such as counseling, tutoring, financial aid and other services to achieve graduation and/or transfer success.
Who is Eligible for Success First?
- Student who has applied to TMCC and been accepted for summer/fall 2012.
- Students who will be attending college for the first time beginning fall 2012.
- Students whose parents or guardians have not graduated with a bachelor's degree. (*Some exceptions may be made)
- Students that have submitted a FAFSA application and demonstrate financial need.(*Students and families must complete both the 2011-2012 FAFSA as well as the 2012-2013 FAFSA)
- Students that have a minimum placement of ENG 098R or ENG 112D only and MATH 095.
Program Requirements
- Success First full-time participants who do not participate in the Summer Bridge will be scheduled for and required to enroll in English, math, college success course/EPY101 and elective course their fall 2012.
- Success First Summer Bridge participants will be required to enroll in English, math and two elective courses for fall 2012, and required to meet a minimum of once a semester with a Success Coach.
Student Benefits
- Success First students selected for 2012-2013 program will receive the following:
- Counseling, tutoring, financial aid and other services to progress toward graduation.
- Monthly follow-up phone call from a Success First Student mentor and the opportunity to receive priority registration for fall 2012/spring 2013.
- Success First students selected for the July 2012 Summer Bridge program will receive the following:
- 6 college credits, English and college success skills course at no cost to the participant.
- Free lunch and books.
- $800 grant if participant successfully completes the 5-week, Monday-Thursday, 8:30 am to 3:10 pm Summer Bridge program.
When is the Deadline to Submit Success First Interest Form and Scholarship Application?
Success First Interest Form and Scholarship Applications will be taken until all spots have been filled for the summer/fall 2012 semester.
