International Student Advising

Truckee Meadows Community College provides access to lifelong learning opportunities to improve the quality of life for our diverse community. We welcome students from all cultural backgrounds, including those who come here for the purpose of attending college.

As an international student on an F-1 visa, you will be required to meet with the International Academic Advisors each semester prior to registering for classes. Your International Advisor can help you to be successful at TMCC by introducing you to various campus resources and programs available. Your International Advisor can also help you explore options for transferring to a university after graduation or pursue employment opportunities through OPT (optional practical training).

New International Students will learn about academics and registration at TMCC in a hands-on group advising workshop. Before the start of your first semester, you will also attend a required International Student Orientation. During this orientation, you will meet other international students, the International Services team, learn about F-1 visa regulations, TMCC policies and procedures, understand the American higher education system, and become acquainted with TMCC through a campus tour.

Please contact us to schedule an appointment. If you need to reschedule an appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance.

For more information about coming to TMCC as an international student, visit our International Students webpage.
