International Students

Estimated Expenses for F-1 International Students

Truckee Meadows Community College welcomes applications from students from all countries. However, TMCC does not have financial aid for international students, and American immigration law restricts legal employment options in the U.S. Because of this, financial documentation proving the international student's ability to pay for him or herself in the U.S. is required by law.

Each international student choosing to use an F-1 visa is required to provide proof of finances in order to receive an international student immigration document (Form I-20). This proof can be given in the form of a personal bank statement; the parents' bank statement with a statement of sponsorship; an affidavit of support (Form I-134) from a U.S. citizen or permanent resident relative (Download the I-134 form); or a scholarship award from the student's home country. A combination of these items may be used.

The international student's financial documents must prove the student has the estimated amount of money necessary for his or her first academic year of study at TMCC. Please contact Mrs. Clare Steppat, international admissions officer, with questions
