Tuition and Fees
Fees and tuition are set by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents and are subject to change. Notwithstanding currently posted tuition and fees, all fees, tuition or other charges which students are required to pay each semester are subject to increase by action of the Board of Regents at any time before the commencement of classes (primarily due to budgetary shortfalls). The amount you are charged at the time of registration is not a final bill and may be increased. You will receive a supplemental invoice for any additional amounts which the Board of Regents may impose. Fee changes put in place less than 30 days before commencement of classes will not be subject late fee penalties.

Detailed Fee Information
Resident fees
$69.25 per credit plus a $5.50 per credit technology fee. While it is best to pay your fees when you register, the final fee payment deadline is 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, for early and priority registrations. If you register after Aug. 12, your new charges are due two days after you register. Students are responsible for either paying for, or dropping from, each class in which they are registered. If you have not paid for a class by the established deadline, TMCC reserves the right to offer the class to the next eligible student. If you have not dropped a class you no longer want to take, you will still be responsible for the fees. Fees are assessed on a per-credit basis. Audited classes cost the same as credit classes. TMCC Workforce Development classes are self-supporting, so charges vary accordingly.
Residency for Tuition Purposes
Pursuant to the passage of Senate Bill 32 (Chapter 374, Statutes of Nevada 2005), as of July 1, 2005, a financially independent student must be a bona fide resident of the State of Nevada for at least 12 months prior to matriculation to qualify for in-state tuition. Further, for a dependent student to qualify for in-state tuition, the student's family must be a Nevada resident. Please contact the admissions and records office for further details.
Application fee
A $10 one-time, nonrefundable fee is charged to first-time TMCC students only. This fee cannot be refunded, even if classes are full or you dropped or canceled your classes.
Good Neighbor tuition
If you live in a neighboring California county, you may be eligible for the Good Neighbor rate of $107.00 per credit (which does not include the $5.50 per credit technology fee).
Western Undergraduate Exchange
WUE is the Western Undergraduate Exchange, a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Through WUE, students in western states may enroll in many two-year and four-year college programs at a reduced tuition level: 150 percent of the institution's regular resident tuition. To be eligible for WUE, students must be a resident of a WICHE State. Some colleges and universities have additional criteria. For further information about specific programs in WUE contact the admissions and records office. (Please see tuition and fees chart above).
Out-of-state tuition
If you don't qualify for Good Neighbor status, the fees are calculated as follows: if you take less than seven credits, you'll be charged per credit; if you are taking seven or more credits, you'll pay the in-state Fee rate per credit and an additional $3,173.50 per semester. (Please refer to the tuition and fees chart above).
Distant education out-of-state tuition
Students who physically reside outside the state of Nevada may be eligible for a special distance education rate. (Please see tuition and fees chart above). To apply, please submit the request for distant education special tuition rate to the admissions and records office.
Senior citizen fees
If you are 62 or older and have been a Nevada resident for one year, you qualify for this program. Fee discounts apply only if there are seats available in a class; if the class in which you have enrolled becomes full, you must pay the full fee or drop the class(es). If you have turned 62 since taking your last TMCC class, notify admissions and records.
- There is no application fee.
- There is no per-credit charge to register for a regular course.
- You must pay all lab, special fees and the technology fee.
- You must pay 80% of the cost of WDCE classes and full price for WDCE workshops.
Seniors who are at least 62 years old and have been Nevada residents for one year may qualify for the Senior Sunshine Fund, a program which loans senior citizen's books and supplies.
For Summer Only: If you are 62-years-old or older and are a Nevada resident, you will pay only 50 percent of the regular registration fees for Summer session classes. Additionally, seniors pay 100 percent of all lab fees, special fees, technology fees and workshop registration fees and 80 percent of most WDCE classes. Because summer session is self-supporting, reduced fee benefits are subject to the programs maintaining their self-sufficiency.
Lab and special fees
These fees, added to the per-credit class fees, are found below the class listing.
Technology fee
Fees printed in this class schedule include the $5.50 per credit technology fee approved by the NSHE Board of Regents in October 1999.
Student Health Insurance and Health Resources
Enrolled students may choose to enroll in an optional health insurance plan. Students should determine which plan best meets their personal needs since each plan has significant differences in coverage, options, and premium amounts. Students are encouraged to review the options carefully before purchasing a plan. Students complete the appropriate application and submit payments directly to the selected insurance provider. Payment of premiums is not processed through the TMCC business office. A student may consider one of the plans listed below or seek other options elsewhere.
Sentry Life Insurance Company
Students enrolled in one or more credits have an option of purchasing accident and health insurance through Sentry Life Insurance Company (Plan 1 or Plan 2). Information is available at www.ejsmith.com or at the Office of the Associate Dean of Student Support Services (RDMT 120).

TMCC Fitness Center
Students attending TMCC or other NSHE institutions may purchase a semester fitness center pass from the controller's office for 45 per semester (spring or fall) and $25 for the summer semester. Refund policy: 100 percent during first week of purchase. After the first week, no refunds, no exceptions. Day passes are also available at the controller's office for $3/day.
Payment Information
To find out how much you owe, log in to MyTMCC. During the early registration period, you must pay your fees by the published deadline. If you enroll after the early registration period you must pay your fees two days after you register. If you do not, TMCC reserves the right to offer the seat in the class to the next eligible student.
TMCC 3-Pay Payment Plan
TMCC, in Fall of 2010, will offer a 3-pay payment plan to any student who owes $200 or more on their student account (current semester charges). The plan divides the balance into three equal installments that are due on 8/12, 9/13 and on 10/13. Your enrollment will be cancelled if the first payment is not made on time. Subsequent installment payments #2 and #3, if late, will receive a $10 late fee for each. Please log in to MyTMCC to sign up.
Unpaid fees and delinquent accounts
All fees must be paid by the due date. Any balance due that is not covered by a payment plan or awaiting anticipated aid may be subject to a penalty fee of a minimum of $10 up to a maximum of $100 per semester. If you owe any money to the NSHE, you are ineligible to register or receive a transcript, diploma or certificate. Delinquent accounts may be forwarded to a collection agency.
Federal/state/employer paid programs
You must submit the payment authorization from the paying party to the controller's office on or before the Friday of the week you register.
Ways to Pay
Credit and Debit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express) payments and e-check payments may be made online. Log in to MyTMCC and follow the instructions carefully. Declined credit card transactions are reversed from the student's account, leaving the balance due and payable immediately. Outstanding balances are subject to the unpaid fees and delinquent accounts policy and may result in a student being dropped from his/her classes.
Personal check payments (not made online) are accepted. Make the check payable to the BOARD OF REGENTS and write the student's NSHE ID number on the check. TMCC assesses a $25 collection fee on returned checks.
Pay by mail. Checks must be received by the controller's office in time to be processed by the aforementioned due dates and times. Mail to: Controller's Office, Truckee Meadows Community College, 7000 Dandini Blvd., RDMT 318, Reno, NV 89512.
Bring your payment to the controller's office or the TMCC drop box to avoid lines. The drop box is located on the Dandini Campus at: Controller's Office, room 318, Red Mountain Building.
If you have any questions regarding student fees or tuition, please contact the controller's office. To pay your fees online please log in to MyTMCC.
